What is Entertaiment?
Article about Entertaiment:
The activity that enables an individual to feel good about life by engaging in leisure activities, such as playing games, watching performance and sports. It also encompasses activities that prepare individuals for adult responsibilities and social interaction, such as playing with dolls, pets and group games, or develops physical skills required for sports, music, and dancing.
Entertaiment derives from the Latin intertenere, meaning to hold inside. The prefix inter means inside, the suffix tenere relates to holding, and the Indo-European root tenere is related to stretching.
According to Bates and Ferri (2010), entertainment is an activity understood objectively, involves communication between text and audience from an external stimulus, offers pleasure, requires an audience to exist, and occurs in a passive form.
