The Daily News
The Daily News is a daily newspaper published in New York City, United States. It was founded in 1919 by Joseph Medill Patterson as the Illustrated Daily News and became the first United States newspaper printed in tabloid format. It reached its peak circulation in 1947, when it sold 2.4 million copies per day. It is now owned by tronc, the publishing operations of the former Tribune Company.
The daily paper is primarily a metropolitan newspaper, covering the entire New York City area. It is the ninth most widely circulated paper in the United States.
It is known for its sensational coverage of crime, scandal, and violence. The paper also features large and prominent photographs of the major events of the day, as well as a variety of entertainment and sports sections.
Since 1948, the Daily News has operated its own television station (WPIX) in New York City. It has also established radio stations in the city, including WPIX-FM and WFAN-FM. In addition, it maintains a number of bureaus in the city and other parts of New York State, primarily located at City Hall and One Police Plaza.
Aside from its local news, the Daily News also covers national and international stories of interest to New Yorkers. It has an extensive network of opinion columnists, journalists, and editorial writers who cover a wide range of issues.
It publishes articles on a wide range of topics, including local and national news, business, sports, politics, entertainment, religion, health care, and technology. It also publishes opinion pieces, essays and book reviews.
The paper also carries a feature called the “Daily Roundup”, which is a summary of the top news stories of the day. This roundup is published every day at 5:00 AM and can be viewed by clicking the link in the upper right-hand corner of its home page.
Another feature is the “Daily News E-dition,” which is a digital replica of the print newspaper, allowing users to read their paper on computers and mobile devices. The E-dition offers a simple user interface, with easy navigation, and a variety of interactive features to enhance the reading experience.
