Welcome to the real world. South African Boxing has been put to the test over the past 2 years.

Boxing’s blackout by SABC, resignations by top boxing officials and Aiba’s provisionally suspend Sanabo, what more can go wrong?

On a positive note it must be said that promoters have been active and continue to keep their fighters busy. On the International scene, Ilunga Makabu, Tommy Oosthuizen, Thabiso Mchunu Hekkie Budler and Nkosonati Joyi have all made good progress and a step up in class is on the cards for them all.

Ilunga Makabu is set to defend his WBC Silver Belt on the Golden Gloves 30 August bill at Emperors Palace and should he win he’ll be back in Monte- Carlo in an IBO world title bid. Johnny Muller gets his chance to regain the SA Title he lost to Tshepang Mohale on the Emperors Palace ‘Triple Thunder’ bill.

30 September African Ring in association with Golden Gloves will pay tribute to the great Levi Madi at a Box & Dine, Emperors Palace. 19 October Golden Gloves and Matchmaker Reuben Rasodi will be back at the Soweto Community Hall to stage another development show.

Keep on Punching!!
