*Most ‘title’ bouts of any South African: ‘Baby’ Jake Matlala. His combined number of title bouts-albeit Provincial, National or World title level, numbered 37. Of those, he won 27. *Most world title bouts by a South African. “Baby” Jake Matlala. In total he had 18 world championship contests

*Dingaan Thobela: first South African ever to win world titles in three different organizations. (WBO, WBA & WBC respectively)

*Barney Malone: oldest SA boxer to compete as a professional.(53) :from 1889-1923.

*Fred Storbeck: first South African to win an Amateur title overseas.(British heavyweight title, 1910, in London)

*Heavyweight title. First tournament in the history of South African boxing that began in the early hours of the morning. The tournament, which was staged at Carnival City, started at exactly 2:30 am, with the Lewis/Rahman bout commencing just before dawn.
