It is with great pleasure and excitement that as your editor
of our first edition of our new boxing magazine I welcome
you the readers and hope to bring you many great boxing
stories and memories for many years to come.
I am privileged and very honored to be able to tell you that
I will be leaving on June 5th for the U.S.A travelling with my
immediate family, my beautiful wife Juanita, gorgeous daughter
Candice, eldest son Brian his brother Nathan and our little
one Damon Mitchell. Our journey takes us to New York city for 5 days for a vacation, we then rent a van or combi as we call it and take about 4 hours journey to a famous little town called Canastota. It all started with a phone call I received
from Edward Trophy (Executive Director) on the 9th of December 2008, informing me that the International Boxing Hall of Fame and Boxing writers and historians rom around the world had elected me to be the Class of 2009 along with Lennox Lewis and Orlando Gonzales, we are to be honored in a 4 day red carpet celebration from the 11th until the 14th of June. With the official induction ceremony taking place on the Hall of Fame grounds on Sunday the 14th of June.
Here I will receive a custom made gold ring and a plaque
feauring my picture and career achievements which will have
a permanent place on the Hall of Fame wall.
As I write this story my body is covered with goose flesh, it
was my ultimate and all time dream goal to one day be inducted
and receive the greatest boxing achievement. To think
I will be alongside my heroes the great Sugar Ray Robinson
and great Sugar Ray Leonard my all time Heavyweight favorite Joe Louis and Muhammad ali, and Rocky Marcianio just to mention a few. My response to all this as one word (WOW)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A special thanks must go to Golden Gloves for being part of
